Close to 12 years ago, some pastors from Bayside Church traveled to Kenya Africa with Compassion International to see how they were working with the local church to rescue kids out of poverty in Jesus’ name. After that trip, our hearts were changed, and eyes opened to the massive impact Compassion was having on kids in poverty around the world. We realized that no one on the planet was doing a better job developing kids spiritually, physically, socially, and emotionally to become all God intends them to be. After that trip, we decided as a church to commit to hosting a Compassion “sponsorship weekend” annually.
Now 12 years later because of the generosity of Bayside Church, thousands of children around the world have been sponsored and are filled with hope and a future. Several families in our church have sponsored multiple kids, some have sponsored as many as 25 or more. One of Bayside’s core values is to unleash compassion in our community and around the world. As a church, we have sponsored close to 24,000 kids and have raised close to $70 million through sponsorships. I believe because of our commitment to child sponsorship year after year, our church has become more generous, and thousands of families around the world now have hope in Jesus name.
