A young woman’s health—and future—is restored.

I spent the majority of the last six years living with incredible uncertainty. When I was just 18 years old, I was diagnosed with a very rare and life-threatening blood disease while I was traveling abroad. I was grateful that God saved me from what was truly a life-or-death situation by sending me to the exact hospital where He knew there would be a leading specialist in my rare condition who could give me the support I needed to save my life. However, after weeks of blood and plasma transfusions, high doses of medications, a week on a ventilator, and chemotherapy, we were all uncertain whether my body would ever recover enough for me to have children.
Although I was grateful to have the chance to be alive, I didn’t know how to grapple with the fact that I might never be a mother someday. It was something that I had always wanted, but I had been told by my doctors that my body was very fragile and temperamental, so we were all unsure of how it would handle a pregnancy. But God was faithful to the desires of my heart and this past year he gifted me and my husband with the chance to be parents. Our baby girl, Kenna, was born in May 2018 and we couldn’t be happier! When most people told us, it was impossible for us to have a baby due to my health, God smiled and said: “nothing is impossible for me.” So, we named our daughter Kenna, which means “forged in fire,” as a reminder to us of how God walks with us through all of the fires and doubts we face. She is forever my living proof that Jesus saves, heals, and offers hope for all.
